Description
In our search to innovate and improve our coupages, we decided to go back to the on-site production made more than a century ago. We made a coupage of the three traditional varieties, macabeu, xarel.lo and parellada, all grown on our Sumarroca estate.

Tasting note

Bright straw yellow, with persistent small bubbles. Marked citrus and apple aroma combined with notes of ageing. In the mouth it is fresh and mineral, with notes of apple. Persistent in the mouth, with a pleasant finish.

Characteristics:
The grapes were harvested in their best moment of maturation, with the necessary acidity to obtain the perfect balance among alcoholic degree, glycerine and total wine acidity. They were subjected to a low pressure taking all the flavour of the juice. The fermentation was carried out in September, with a constant temperature of 15ºC.
Making the coupage and bottling during winter. The second fermentation, inside the bottle, took part for a month and a half in our cellars, with a constant temperature of 16ºC. Later on, the bottles rested in the horizontal position (in rima) for at least one year.

Characteristics: A selected harvest, the choice of the very best flower must and a long maturing, are gathered in this cava, worth of the best reserve of our Heretat.

The grapes were harvested in their best moment of maturation, with the necessary acidity to obtain the perfect balance among alcoholic degree, glycerine and total wine acidity. They were subjected to a minimal pressure of 0,2 Kg in order to obtain half a liter of wine from each Kg of grapes. The fermentation was carried out in September, with a constant temperature of 15ºC. making the coupage and bottling during the months of March and April. The second fermentation, inside the bottle, took part for a month and a half in our cellars, with a constant temperature of 16ºC. Later on, the bottles rested in the horizontal position (in rima) for at least two years.

Wine description
Temps de Flors is a coupage of three varieties—Muscat, Gewürztraminer and Xarel·lo—grown at our Sumarroca (near Sant Sadurní d’Anoia) and Sabartés (next to Llorenç del Penedès) estates.
The 2012 vintage year was notable for having a very mild winter with little rainfall. In fact, no rain was recorded from the end of November until just before sprouting. Although the winter was mild, sprouting was a few days late since the start of the spring was a little cooler than usual, with a certain amount of rain which ensured adequate plant growth. After the middle of spring, temperatures rose and rainfall dropped sharply. Even still, moderate rainfall of 25-35 litres was recorded during the months of May, June, July and August which, combined with relatively low humidity, ensured adequate maturing and health. In terms of dates, both veraison and ripening were at normal times.

Tasting notes
In the bouquet there are suggestions of ripe summer fruit, peaches, pears, lychees and grapes, as well as some more floral notes: jasmine, orange blossom, roses and azaleas. The palate is full-bodied and creamy, with its in-mouth aroma leading to a fine finish. Balanced, rounded flavour. A harmonious combination of sensations.

Our wine Montonega has been produced from the indigenous variety Montonega from Penedes, Parellada phenotype. This is a variety of very low production and for that reason it has been scarcely planted in the area. The properties of its small grapes endow a specific structure, which coupled with the elevation of the vineyard and its soil, boosts flavour and aromatic expression of the wine and provides a nice level of acidity allowing to maintain the quality of young wines for several years. Its personality and differentiation, together with its exclusivity due to the shortage of these vines, even in their place of origin, Penedes, allow us to ensure that our high quality wine is "unique of its kind," and is of very limited production.

Located in the estate around the cellar. Old Macabeo vines with a low production. On sloping soils between the hills of Mediona. Select soils of a complex structure, calcareous and rocky. 500 m altitude, south oriented with a wide thermal rise. Manual harvest in boxes at an optimal moment of ripeness. Settling overnight in refrigerated room. Strict quality control in cellar and at the vineyards. Destemming, soft crushing and mild pressing produce an excellent must. Static clearing in stainless steel tanks, and fermentation in French oak barrels. Regular battonage stirring its lees during a brief two month aging. A wine full of nuances results from a very limited production bottled in January. Recommended serving temperature 12 º C. Straw colour with golden hints. A  fine aroma with elegant smoked hints, herbs and lees. Greasy in mouth, round elegant, excellent acidity, persistent reminiscing ripe fruit.

Characteristics: Sheltered by the Montserrat mountains the Chardonnay variety wines of our Alba Vineyard are the source of this clear, cool and sphisticated wine. It is a full-bodied wine with a bouquet that evokes exotic fruits and lingers on the palate which heightens the qualities of this excellent wine truly 100% Chardonnay.

The fermentation is carried out at 15 ºC. for a period of 20 days. Afterwards, the restling of the bottle enhances its peculiar and different characteristics.

RED WINE NEGRE BY SUMARROCA

PRODUCTION
The three varieties are treated separately. When the grapes reach optimal ripeness they are quickly harvested and taken to the cellar where they are cooled to 14oC. They are kept at this temperature for three days. Then fermentation begins, at a controlled temperature of 26oC. Fermentation takes six days, after which the wine is transferred to vats where malolactic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 20oC. After fermentation the wine is transferred to other vats to settle for several weeks before the final coupage. It is gently clarified and stabilised before the final filtration.

THE VINES

Made with selected grapes of the Merlot, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. The Tempranillo grapes are from our 30.5- hectare Finca Molí Coloma, while the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are from the 402.8-hectare Finca Sumarroca.
The cellar and the family house are on the Finca Molí Coloma, a cool site with gravelly soil. The vines are trained using the Royat double cordon system, and run from north to south. On the Finca Sumarroca the soil type varies from place to place but it is generally poor with a substantial limestone content. The reddish tones of the earth in the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards reflect their higher clay and iron content. The estate faces south/south-east and the Cabernet Sauvignon vines run from south-east to north-west while the Merlot vines run from north to south. Both are trained using a Royat double cordon system.

CLIMATE

For the 2012 vintage the winter was cool and rainy so the grapes began to appear at the normal time. Early spring was very dry with high temperatures typical of early summer until late May, when a period of rain brought temperatures down. This weather continued until the beginning of August, making the early part of summer more like a cool spring. After this, temperatures rose to above average levels, with very little rain.

TASTING NOTE

Ripe cherry colour with violet edges. Intense, fruity aroma suggesting raspberry and cherry jam, with youthful eucalyptus and fennel notes. Smooth and velvety with a refined raspberry and cherry flavour, and balsamic notes in the mouth which refresh the wine. Lingering, fruity finish with a hint of cherry jam.

PAIRING

With its refreshing, balsamic notes, this wine works beautifully with cold meats and soft cheeses. Its smooth, velvety character also makes it ideal to accompany pasta dishes with pesto, cheese or mushrooms, as well as grilled white or red meat or meats served with, for example, a fruits of the forest sauce. It also combines well with oily fish or grilled monkfish, or fish served with rich, but subtle, sauces.

气候条件

RED WINE SANTA CREU BY SUMARROCA

PRODUCTION
Each of the varieties is harvested when it has ripened to exactly the right degree. They are processed separately at a controlled temperature of 26oC in stainless steel vats. During maceration the wine is pumped over and aired several times to bring out as much mature tannin as possible. Maceration takes from 7 to 9 days, depending on the grape variety. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats.
The wine is aged for 10 months in French Allier oak casks from different makers to give the wine extra complexity. The wine is stored in our cellar for 12 months before being sold.

THE VINES

Made with the finest Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes from our vineyards in the Santa Creu de Creixà area of the Sumarroca estate. The ground is stony with a mix of sand and gravel which limits production but yields very high quality grapes.

WEATHER CONDITIONS
In 2009 spring was rainy and summer dry and warm, with very low humidity. As a result of the high temperatures the bulk of the grapes were ripe for harvesting 3 weeks early. However, the low humidity and night temperatures made it possible to complete phenolic ripening and the final harvesting of these grapes was a week later than usual.

TASTING NOTE

Intense, deep cherry colour with a fine, intense aroma of ripe dark fruit, such as cherries and blackberries. Hints of vanilla with a background of licorice. Full flavoured with soft, well-integrated tannin. The flavours of cherry and fruits of the forest predominate, merging well with the more balsamic nuance of licorice.

PAIRING

A soft but intense wine which calls for food whose flavour is also intense. Ideal for grilled red meat or meat with mild mushroom or fruits of the forest sauces. Goes well with soft and milder cured cheese and all kinds of pasta. A fish casserole also combines well with this wine.

The combination of our rocky soil, day to night temperature change at the elevation of 500 metres above the sea level, low and controlled production at optimum harvest maturity has allowed us to develop a rigorous Merlot, very traditional, balanced, with marked acidity, fresh and Mediterranean on the palate, where 9 months of aging in French oak aligns well with the fruit. Despite the acknowledged difficulty of obtaining a quality single-variety Merlot, our wine has been rated as 'impressive'.

Dark cherry coloured with violet overtones.
Powerful aroma, with delicate mineral touches and spicy
